Grounded in theatre, performance, dramaturgy and movement, Casa Hechale is dedicated to artistic research, experimentation and the development of new work, extending into film, moving image, design and interdisciplinary practice. The centre supports work from early inquiry and rehearsal through testing and exchange toward production, performance, exhibition and screening.

A black box theatre, rehearsal and project spaces, the Front Gallery, residency rooms and shared spaces for research and conversation form an environment for playwrights, performers, directors, filmmakers, designers and interdisciplinary artists to develop work across forms and disciplines.

Cross-border exchange is central to the mission of Casa Hechale. With a particular focus on artistic and cultural exchange across the Mexico–United States border, the centre engages with Chicano, Latinx and transborder practices and perspectives while developing relationships with artists and cultural institutions internationally.
