The house at Dr. Atl 236, formerly Calle del Pino 236, dates to the early twentieth century and is located in Santa María la Ribera, one of Mexico City's oldest residential neighborhoods.
A 1916 official record associates the address with Dr. Antonio Arturo Loaeza Vargas, considered Mexico's first neurologist. Loaeza studied in Paris under the French neurologist Joseph Babinski in 1903 and later contributed to the development of clinical neurology in Mexico.
Today, the building houses Centro Cultural Casa Hechale, a space for theatre, performance, artistic residencies, and interdisciplinary practice.
